Azienda Agricola Cianfagna
Campobasso, Molise, Italy

Rooted in farming since 1860, the Cianfagna family formally founded the winery in 1999 when Vincenzo Cianfagna inherited the family holding from Pasquale Cianfagna and set out to renew tradition without losing its soul. Their vineyards sit on the beautiful hills of Molise around 500 meters above sea level in Acquaviva Collecroce, roughly 30 km from the sea and 70 km from Campobasso, where clay soils, wide day to night temperature swings, and steady summer ventilation shape the fruit. After research and experimentation with the University of Molise, the estate chose cordon training and committed to intense hands-on viticulture with no irrigation, controlled yields, careful bud selection, green thinning, and leaf work before harvest for full, even ripening. Protection in the rows stays minimal, relying on a few sulfur and copper treatments and a naturally dry, breezy site to help keep fungi at bay. In the cellar they aim to bring in healthy grapes for traditional, unsophisticated winemaking, with meticulous control from vineyard to bottle, no fixed resident winemaker, and sulfite levels kept below what organic rules allow.
