Born and raised in Chiuro in the heart of Valtellina, Luca Faccinelli traces his winemaking calling back to the early 2000s, when wine began to eclipse what had previously been his world of basketball. After earning his degree, spending time in United States, completing a corporate communication master, and working at a major American PR company, he returned home and found himself captivated by the region’s terraced vineyards and wineries. He speaks of believing deeply in the potential of his territory and of making a dream real by regaining his land so he can truly enjoy it, because to him being a wine producer is the most beautiful job in the world. That place-first philosophy shows up in a hands-on approach shaped by heroic mountain viticulture, with local grapes grown on steep terraced sites like Dossi Salati in the Grumello subzone, where south-facing slopes climb toward the Alps and harvest is done manually, a spirit aligned with Proposta Vini and its Vini Estremi focus on inaccessible vineyards and challenging conditions. Today, a new winery in Tresivio is presented as technology integrated with the territory, welcoming visitors to taste while looking out over the Inferno, Grumello, and Sassella terraced vineyards, and even James Suckling has taken notice by praising the wines with a 93-point score.
