Montenero
Montecucco, Toscana, Italy

At Montenero, an artisan winery set between the wind and Monte Amiata, the story begins in the vineyards where soil, sun, and rock underfoot shape everything they do. Their philosophy is simple and patient: they grow vines while respecting the environment and biodiversity, aiming for wines that mirror the singular character of the Montenero terroir, with each grape variety responding to the land in its own way. In the cellar, the work is treated like a ritual, tasting and watching the wines evolve until they feel ready, as if the place itself is speaking through them. The face at the center of it is Stefano, Montenero’s body and soul, born and bred in Verona and drawn to Tuscany as his path into wine. From their home at Podere Marinelli in Montenero d’Orcia near Castel del Piano (GR), the crew and their close collaborators keep that quiet, hands-on rhythm alive every day.
