At Ca'Nova, part of Cascina Canova, the story begins in 1996 as a shared family dream to restore a 1700s farmhouse that now holds the winery, ageing cellar, offices, and tasting areas, and to plant roughly 9 hectares of vineyards, a project carried forward after the founder’s father passed away in 2018, with Vittorio Codecasa presented on the page as the voice behind the estate’s vision and the guiding idea that “harmony makes small things grow” (1668). Rooted around the estate at Bogogno, their philosophy ties wine quality to environmental care through grape growing that avoids chemical weed killers, relies on microelement-based fertilizers, practices green manure to replenish the soil, and uses copper-based treatments extensively while turning to systemic products only when truly necessary. The estate highlights key sites including the original vineyard planted around Cascina Cà Nova, the revived San Quirico parcel recovered from woodland with local growers’ stewardship, and a larger planting in Romagnano Sesia shaped by basaltic and alluvial soils; in the cellar, they describe a “technological but traditional” approach, fermenting in refrigerated stainless-steel tanks before ageing in large oak casks and French oak barriques, with bottling carried out twice yearly and longer-aged wines held for extended time before release.
