In the geographical heart of Sardinia, Fradiles, a name that means “cousins” in Sardinian, was born from family ties and a revived ancestral estate, bringing old habits back to life among vineyards that feel impossible to copy anywhere else. In Atzara in the historic Mandrolisai territory, Paolo Savoldo tends about 25 acres between 500 and 700 meters, including a core of family plots planted eighty to a hundred years ago around Località Creccherì. Their philosophy is to safeguard this inherited wine culture by keeping the voice of each vineyard intact, chasing elegance through simplicity while pairing tradition with constant research, careful detail, and technological innovation. That approach shows up in the way they honor the area’s weathered granite and schist soils and the old goblet-trained vines of Barbagia Mandrolisai, where low yields and mixed plantings of local varieties shape distinctive wines, often guided by the DOC standard and treated with a focus on purity.
