Villa Spinosa
Negrar, Veneto, Italy

Towards the end of the 1700s, engineer Giacomo Guglielmi began building the farmhouses of Jago around an estate centre that likely dates to the early 1700s, then came the villa and its Italian garden, still framing the property today. In Valpolicella, the land moved from sharecropping to freehold and, after the wine crisis of the 1980s, the local push became clear: fewer compromises, more identity, more quality. Villa Spinosa was born in that moment, reshaping vineyards and restoring tuff stone rural buildings so the same courtyards and outhouses once used for farm life could now host every step of production in a single historic complex. Inside, practical spaces were adapted for grape drying and for long, quiet maturation in barrel rooms, while outside the estate kept expanding its planted area with newly prepared fields. Set above the lower valley of Negrar in Valpolicella and helped by the mild influence of Lake Garda, the property has also reopened its former workers’ quarters to welcome visitors, guided today under Enrico Cascella Spinosa.
